Are there any other USA managers who would be interested in playing in a friendly "tournament"?
I don't think there are that many managers who will participate, so I think we could have a double-elimination "friendly" tournament this season that would be finished well before the national cup starts. Rules would be something like this:
- Easy tackling only! In the past we had to trust each other but now that we can see each others' tactics during match, we can be sure. Next season, using default tackling will result in a "yellow card"; two times and you get a "red card" resulting in a 1 goal penalty in the match. If "hard" tackling is used, it is a "Straight red card". If a second "red card" is received, it amounts to a 2 goal penalty.
- Matches are held in largest stadium of the two competitors. If there is no difference in stadium size, then the one with higher quality gets the match.
- A draw counts as a loss for the team with higher club rating (so more established teams are expected to win)
- If you accept a friendly match with a club other than your assigned competitor, then it counts as a forfeit and you lose.
For this to happen we need
at least 8 teams, though 16 (or 32) would be better! If we are close to one of these numbers, we might invite a few other clubs who are free to play.
I'd like to start by 29 February at the latest, so please post here if you want to participate ASAP. I will try to determine whether we will have enough teams to move forward by 27 February!
