Youth Camps -the facts
« on: April 05, 2013, 08:44:20 AM »
Hi All

There is a lot of confusion around the new Youth Camps and none of us can really know the best way to use them. So my idea is that we all start collating evidence about the camps in this topic.

See Admins actual explanation here: http://forum.gokickoff.com/index.php?topic=14543.0

First, the salient points are:

1 - The more money invested in a country (by all clubs) the higher the quality of players
2 - The better players will choose to go the clubs who invest the most.
3 -  Every club with a youth camp should get 2 new players per season (one around the half way and one at the end)
4  - We have no idea yet about the quality of players we will get for different levels of investment.

Secondly what we know from the the first round of players:5- We have now been told by Admin that for the second round of players: countries with low investments will get materially worse players than in the first round.

Hi thanks to everyone who has contributed so far.

Although I haven't been able to pull together a comprehensive list of youth camps I have got enough info on big and small ponds to provide some interesting insights that can start to inform people on the kind of country they might choose for their youth camps.

Big Ponds are countries like Germany, Spain and Brazil. In Brazil I estimate that the total investment in the first week was about 2.7m so we can expect these countries to provide some very good players but will there be enough to go around? If you want to be the big fish in this pond you need to invest 200,000 just to catch-up with the leader.

Small Ponds are countries like Antigua and Republic of Ireland. So far you can get away with being the big fish with a fairly modest investment of 10,000-20,000. However the total investment in Ireland is 25k - so how good are these players going to be compared to Brazil's 2.7m investment?

Well the truth is we don't know yet so we wait for the first players to arrive!

One thought that occurred to me is: what happens to our international  competitions? On the face of things: Brazil now has a 2.7m investment in youth compared to Poland's estimated 0.4m investment. By definition this investment has nothing to do with the managers in those countries - does that sound fair?

MY TEAM OUARSENAL I have invested 2.5m ca1 la3 pr4 is very bad and not at all.

 >:( >:( >:(

CAMP2 invested 1.6m ca1 la2 pr4

CAMP3 invested 2.1m ca1 la6 pr4

http://www.gokickoff.com/team_player_detail.php?player_id=6815318

The 3rd National Youth Camp I to 6.2m investment which it very much and it's not worth it to have a player like that is very bad. :o

Thanks all, and dont worry about last rounds picks. If the country is in my sample ( like Fiji) then I probably already have the data and if the country is not (like Tajikstan) then no matter I will just add them in.

Cheers :)

Ouou99 - I do feel for you.

I feel you very unlucky in Tajikstan - but there are only 8 teams investing so even though the top 2 invested alot overall thats not much of an investment in the country as a whole.

In Bermuda there is even less investment but you are top investor you'd think you would get at least a LA6.

In Afghanistan every man and his dog got a 7/4 - seriously I gave up counting - I think about 10 teams invested less than you but got a better player.

You were very lucky in round 1 and its almost like you are being penalised in round 2 :(

I think you summed it up with your last statement: Its just "not worth it"

Just to let you know, I was 3rd in Tajikistan and got 1/3/4 also, but I asked Arazamov Plovdiv(1st) and he got DC 1/9/4?!?!? Where is the logic here? Okay I gave less money then you two, but you should get at least 1/8/4  ::)

That's right, not much investment, but he was not unlucky, he should get similar player, that can only be a bug in the algorithm for teams in smaller camps!
