IMHO mots are given too freely in the game and, more importantly, there is no incentive to save (or not use) them!
  ???

I would suggest this:

1. teams should only get 1 free mots each season
2. an unused mots could be saved for the following season, but it would expire after the 2nd season. Thus, teams could accumulate up to 2 mots but only if they saved theirs from the previous season.
3. an expired mots (unused after 2 full seasons) would proide (A) a significant amount of extra prize money (~500K?) or (B) credits/tokens (25 credits or 10 tokens?)

I think the bigger problem with mots is just a power of them.Number of mots is ok but power should be much less,perhaps only change to morale on 1 step will be fine,but a player with superb will not get extra points and can stay on same level.The most profit could be for teams at the bottom of league to play a game with better morale (no one of their players is "superb").Basicly this could be good starategy if we play few bad games,best and dominate teams can use it against greatest rivals but than only players with morale less than superb will incrase their game.

IMO, it is better to leave it 2 per season, but to weaken them in order to give any chance to opposite team.

In general, I agree. But since this rule 3 is consequence of rule 2, I should suggest correction. This could be implemented for the ongoing season, not the one after. If a manager doesn't use a the MotS, he gets some financial benefits at the end of that season.

I like Brian's ideas, specially 1 and 3 (i'm not so sure about idea 2, shomyguca gave a solid reason for it), but let's face it, i don't think we're going to experience such drastical changes.

Just reduce their effect and remove them from WCC and we all be pleased. Weak teams will still have their weapon to fight big teams (but they will need to do something else than just clicking mots) and international competitions will be trully fair.
I am tired to see strong teams kicked out from WCC because somebody just clicked mots when they set their tactics....

I would let them, but with some conditions (you said all of them):


- Reduce his effect

- Remove from WCC, teams with weak league have an advantage.


About Brian sugestion, Could be interesting, but for exchange mots I would quit tokens. Money would be intesting for teams from low level leagues.

We know nothing about his power, for example i lost game in cup against team who just join GKO month ago, he played with MOTS, i have 130lvl strongest team, it was a tight game, but i lost the game in extra time. My next match I was one who played with mots (against strong team, much stronger than the one i lost, but weaker from my team) and i won the game 1-0 with much efforts. If someone ask me, i will "kill" the mots option in GKO, and find some other solution for close the gap between big and small teams.

I don't think such change is necessary. MOTS is the greatest idea of this game, which gives smaller clubs more chance of beating bigger ones.

I also think the mots is a great idea, i am not againt the concept at all, but i think its effect is too big.
I mean, i am okay with the chance that a weak team could have something to beat the strongest, but a proper tactic must be set also.
With the current scenario, if you play mots it doesn't matter if you tactic was bad, you will have good results anyway.

In the league competitions there are 30 Mots, while I only 2. Quite possible is to relegated! In the league competitions must have 1 Mots.

yes, this is the problem....right know it seems that a MOTS can make possible...the impossible! i saw more than one big team falling against very very weak team using the MOTS... In the real world, motivation is a very important factor, no doubt about it, but player skills and tactics efficiency are objective values over all the other.... Right now there is no MOTS, it is DOPING!!

Who will play MOTS against bottom 3? They are meant for the table leaders which is unjust. There should be some limit of maximum MOTS that can be played against you. For example, if you are given 1 mots, only two other teams can play mots against you. Otherwise, the team on top will keep on facing mots from the folowers.

I totally agree the effect of mots is too great - I think it boosts a team's ability by 15-25% when it should be about half this imho. Personally I think mots should only boost players' mental stats (especially determination and teamwork). Love mots or hate them, this feature isn't going anywhere I think.

Either way, there should be something to encourage managers to not use them. The only incentive is to use them up each season. How many mots get played on the final match of the season just to use them up? I see it all the time in my league.

Perhaps your concerns could be addressed with a simple change that would not allow the extra "reserve" mots to be used in a knockout round of any competition. It could only be used in (a) league matches or (b) WCL group stage...and not in cup, WCL qualifiers, or WCL knockout rounds.

In this way each team would get 1 mots each season that could be played in ANY competition. If unused, this mots could be saved for the next season, but it could only be used in a league or group stage match. If still unused at the end of the 2nd season, this mots would provide some financial benefits

OK, this sounds better, although I wouldn't allow that extra MotS neither in WCL group stage. It would still make huge advantage.

 ;) Personally, I don't like MOTS. I think it should be removed. Others seem to love it so I catch a lot every season. I think that having two MOTS is unfair to a small group of players so on a whole, the GKO community likes MOTS.  I do think that it should be addressed even in MOTS are to stay.
To make things for fair to players who are receiving MOTS, I think something should be done to balance the effect. Here is my suggestion.
 :-\ Why not let teams gain a MOTS after they receive a MOTS. When another team uses MOTS on you, you get a MOTS of your own to use in another match. That way, teams that receive MOTS have an extra MOTS to use against someone else.

me neither I like the mots, but never take him out of the game, unless you regulate its effect, decreasing it
and a form that could be affected only in some skills increases
fight to mots with a real tactic this

I mean that each team can develop a tactic to even the odds against a mots
This mots today, has way too influencing power and all the features and is very difficult to resist in many of the coaches in this game

I remember at least 13 mots againist my team last season. This one maybe 8-9, and it hasn't finish!!!.

In Cup competition i receive almost one MOTS against each match....Last season i won a couple of cup match at penalties against very weak teams :o

In my case I mean in all competition. In league, last season my main rival played me two mots, this season, only one. But is curious, that the last of the league, played me last season and this one mots (diferent teams). This season, one team was fighting for 4th place, played me mots too. In WCC I recived 2 mots, and in cup, is normal, because small teams is the only way they have to pass next round. My league opponents don't recived so mots as me, is just curious.

If you said for me, I'm not complaining, I'm just giving an information. You can only read in my explanation objetive things. If I were complaining, I would be telling subjetive things about them.

In fact, the only thing subjetive in my post was when I wrote it was curious, for two times.

MOTS should stay but it would probably be better to have one MOTS

As for weaker leagues and clubs , let them choose how to use their MOTS. You wont be using MOTS if you re in lower league playing with bots. You ll normally save it for the cup game. If you are in top level of weaker leagues and have complete domination you ll clearly save it for WC.
I mean does it make sense playing " match of the season " with the team that is weaker then you.. 

More stronger your team and more competetive your domestic league / cup is, more MOTSes against you.

If a team plays for example in third level of XYZ league and dominates it he ll use that MOTS in league cup against the team in top level. That is, in fact, the true meaning "match of the season " for that club.. Imagine Rotherham playing in FA Cup against Arsenal.

You wont beat that team that easy but still, the outcome depends on that "random" factor. You ll maybe fail to score from 7-8 shots and the opponent will score from one or two but the idea is that MOTS alone will not give him the win. He needs both MOTS and luck but you ll see that happening all over the time in real world. Sometimes its simply not your day no matter how better you are

I agree with Sopelana.

Actually I have one of his principals opponents in League (with FT Oiartzun), and in the actual league he has received more mots than me, and of not directed rivals.

In his case, he was fighting in last rounds of WCC and he was eliminated by mots... why? He is playing in a disputed league (1 point of difference wiht me) and Cup (with the last finalist of WCC: Oiartzun FT). Some teams are in weak leagues, and have and advantage with mots.

Don't teams all try harder against a good team? =P Didn't a manager from Real Madrid once complain that the teams in the league try harder against them then they do against Barcelona? =P
I don't have a strong opinion for or against MOTs, I used one against the other strong team in my league, at his stadium, he used his, lost 1-0. I have one more remaining and will use it in the cup final against that same team. I do think the strength is...O.o
Another team in my league, at his stadium, beat my team 5-1 using Mots. Post match both of us had player ratings at 3 stars, and performance ratings same, I forgot how much, 4 and a half or so. So I was just thinking....how the hell did I lose 5-1.

I investigated the team a bit because they use MOTs against me, but not against the other strong team in my league. They both have a similar IP address, except for the last 3 numbers I can't see because they are starred out...and yes, I say this because I'm 3 points behind 1st place only because of that one extra loss against the other team that used MOTs against me. =P

I haven't really been in the..uh...what is it..WC? Champions league or whatever, so I can't say anything about that, but I think that a lower class team in it that uses it against a big team would be very likely to happen. Everyone says that's too much of an advantage, I guess it might be, depending on what the MOT's does to a team.

I'm all for removing MOTS right after I qualify for the WCC group stage. LOL But really, I think MOTS is garbage. Maybe MOTS should be determined by some other factor like having to earn it. 

Or better yet, get rid of it all together. I don't mind losing to better teams. It means I have more work to do. I hate losing to teams that have no right defeating me where the only thing I learn from the game is that everyone needs to improve enough to defeat even that MOTS boosted team.

Probably should only be allowed 1 MOT per season, and Id suggest should reduce players fitness at least twice as much as playing normal as a penalty.

It may sound odd but Performance of the Season may be given to players. For example, a single player may be highly motivated as compared to other players of the team. In this way, 5 to 7 players may be allowed to be used either all in one match or divided in many matches.
Otherwise, something like tactic of the season in which either defense or attack alone may be extra motivated.

I also agree MOTS are difficult but still something should be there to mimic rivalry of the real world.   :)

How about replacing MOTS with a new concept, maybe called One Highly Motivated Game (OHMG*), whereby there is a new club activity where you can attempt to motivate your player to MOTS level for one game. I suggest that if the player has not been motivated for 10 games then the success rate is 100%, dropping down to a 10% success rate if he was motivated in the last game. The cost in energy to the manager would be 80 points , the cost to the player should be 2 condition points per attempt and everyone should be limited to 3 attempts per day (to stop us premium users getting another in-game advantage).

I think this is idea has the following advantages

  • Planning - you will need to plan ahead to make sure your players are ready for OHMG
  • Hard Work - if you want your MOTS to be as powerful as they are now, you'll need to log in 3 times a day for 3 days
    • More Realistic / Interesting - I think full MOTS would be rarer but you'll get cases of teams defending like devils and other cases of attackers playing like demons to increase goal difference or to try win a a coverted Golden Boot.
    I'm sure this idea could be improved further with some more mods and it would work better if it comes at the same time as more tactical flexibility because you just know people aregoing ot try and use my system to mark players out of the game!

Interesting idea. I like how a manager could focus on motivating certain players. Only thing though, one can log in and out three times in about 30 seconds. I think these things should come from being active over longer periods of time, maybe the previous week(s), where the more days with logins would increase the probability of success and visa versa.

Still we really should reward managers who refrain from using their mots. Nothing is classier than playing without these cheap gimmicks.

I heard that few season ago, there was a team in Thai's TL had been Mots for fifteen times or more in one season. It's (team)name is "Game Over"

i think that the time has come , to remove the mots once and for all , and let the best team win , on his merits , because mots can  be the reason why a better team  than others be relegated or loose  the league or the cup , stopping the mots would be a peace of mind for honest managers ,and avoid in cahoots situations

If you check this game you will see that  Athletic Calypso played this game with MOTS . But WHY ? He is at 7th place , almost sure he will stay there ! Why would he play mots to a team that is fighting to play in Top level ?!
The reason is this team http://www.gokickoff.com/team_overviews.php?club_id=249314 (currently 2nd in B-1 Macedonia) . And all of that because they are friends in RL ! Now is that fair  play ? And what really makes me feel like an idiot is THAT TEAM Athletic Calypso is still in this game , not banned after more than 20 transfers he has made between his/his friends teams :

NOW if you see also ★Atletico Soccer★ transfers you will notice that he also has transfers with the teams above : Madrista , FC Kralevi etc ... (other transfers erased) .

And ONE more thing ! ★Atletico Soccer★ this is his second team (he was banned few seasons ago, but started new team) :D :D

Those two teams (and all of their connected teams) were reported via mail I think more than 10 users from my country . But only money deducted - pfff !

This is the real reason WHY Mots should be removed/changed .

And now we have interesting situation , that it might be even worse than this one . I believe it will happen more in the future and that is TWO PREMIUM teams (same user) , playing in the same league , same WCL group . That user can play however he wants - thats not right !

REMOVE/MODIFY MOTS  !!!

If you check this game you will see that  Athletic Calypso played this game with MOTS . But WHY ? He is at 7th place , almost sure he will stay there ! Why would he play mots to a team that is fighting to play in Top level ?!

And what really makes me feel like an idiot is THAT TEAM Athletic Calypso is still in this game , not banned after more than 20 transfers he has made between his/his friends teams :

Meh, same thing went 3 seasons ago and nobody argued then, do not see the reason why now. Administration do not give a f**k, why to bother.

 ;)So basically the conversation about MOTS is dead... For those who hate it... it's here to stay. Yet, I have something that I think is more important to discuss about MOTS. Let's discuss how they can be beaten. I have had 10 MOTS used against me this season. I was defeated by three of them and two others went to draws. So basically, they were effective enough to cost my the league.

Perhaps there are some good ways of defeating MOTS. I find that when I set up normally and do nothing irregular, I have the best chance of success against them. Perhaps someone has other ideas on how to deal with continuous MOT use.

From my experience,  when power of stronger team is higher by more then 5-10% is enough to cope with MOTS on own stadium and 15-20% on  neutral stadium as well but on away stadium is need more then 25%. I am speaking of higher level of quality stadiums.

roughly calculate is if play in natural stadium with level 600 + MOTS we need team 600*1.15 = 690 isn't it?  :(

Yes, but team level is not the most important part, i mean, a team level 660 can be stronger than another with level 690, maybe not at individual skill, but it can be stronger at tactical level, and sometimes that is the key to win matches.
How to beat MotS? That is not easy to answer, but i think these factors are key:

First of all, try to predict if your oponent will play mots, that should give you the chance to predict if your oponent will dominate you, if you can still play under similar conditions with him or if the gap betwwen both teams is so high that the oponent doesn't need something extra. Of course, if the gap between both teams is too big, you might not need to do something special against MotS.
Now, if you think you are going to be in dissadvantage, try to find a weak spot to explode, all teams have one, and those teams who plays mots easily mostly have more weaknesses than others who try to avoid using mots, that is all about both manager's skill.
Set the right tactic.
And have some luck, i am afraid that there's not a magical formula against them, the only way to avoid concerns about MotS is to develop a strong team, so strong that your oponents would think that playing MotS against you is a waste, so they will eventually play MotS against others.
Having some codes between community members is always good, i never play MotS on league games, and my league oponents rarely plays MotS among them, that helps a lot to keep the competition clean, but sadly that is not so easy to do everywhere.... We are speaking about a game that support multi-account playing amd rarely provides real punishment to cheaters after all....  :(

It's too bad that the MotS discussion is useless, because i really think that something needs to change, i am not against the concept, but the way they works right now is broken.

 ;) Agreements are great and all, if they can be formed. I suffer from a lot of success in my league and the league does seem to have an agreement... That agreement being play mots on Hibury (I get it but its still not cool.) They don't want to see Hibury win the league again at any cost, so basically, MOTs has been designated against the club.

A lot of what has been suggested makes sense. It would seem that MOTs really doesn't matter if your team is strong enough but when dealing with league rivals, its either play at home or take a loss. I agree that MOTS right now has too much influence over the performance of teams.

This brings up what I consider to be the best solution and most likely to be implemented.

If we must have mots, disallow them in league matches in the same way they cannot be used in friendlies.


Furthermore, we must prevent mangers from having multiple teams in the same league. These teams should be treated like B teams in Spain or Germany:

As for premium multi-accounts in different nations, allow only one to be entered into WCL competition in any season. Unlike the B-team example above, each team would have its own facilities and independent finances, but this would be substantially more costly since each would have to maintain separate facilities. Also, players could only be exchanged via loans making the B-team option more attractive for most managers, I think.

As long is MOTS as the game, multiaccounts it will be abused in all possible ways.

Cancel mots, clearly it spoils the game.

I think that MOTS are bringing this football more alive and giving chances also to all the team. Otherwise it would be boring if only the same teams would win the cup's and leagues. Have you seen such situations in some countries? I think it kills the spirit for the others.
Having only 2 chances in the season is enough to not make it possible to abuse it by one team but enough to make a difference if used wisely.
Those teams who abuse the system must take responsibility or face consequences. That doesn't mean however that the there is anything wrong with the system. I believe that is a good addition to the game.

Mate you are absolutely right if only:

1) admins doing their job of banning multi-account cheaters regularly and thoroughly,

2) admins don`t protect multi-account cheaters which are supporters (premium users).

From my point of view is better to play season without "addition" (MotS) then to play irregular season.

And if you like MotS - don`t be mad on me for opinion i have stated, rather direct your fury against multi account cheaters.

How  MOTSes can make game more alive? Yaeh, when somoene threw a grenade into group of soldiers they are alive more on the same way..... untill dead. Funny?? I don't think so.  MOTSes bring only anger and mess.

two MotSes from Admin or GKO engine is like two firearms that can be used tacitly or overtly by 2 peoples who initially fought with bare hands. One fighter who is being pressed or want to win the fight quickly suddenly shot to his opponent. The results are only two possibilities, his opponent hitted a shot and die or he managed to escape from the bullets that came to him and survived.
More of that MotS that be used by multiaccount users is like premeditated murder. Like in the real life, usually the perpetrators deserve to got the death penalty (banned)

Argentinian Top Level League (as stated before by Carlos) is good example. They agreed to play without MotS in the league matches, but unfortunately not all of leagues can imitate the good example, including in our league. I myself can only give an example to my friends in our league that every time I want to use my MotS always tell it before via PM, Chat, or write in national forum. That's all. :(

Hopefully sometimes the MotS will be eliminated (just my personal idea). :)
