You have to set creative freedom as "more-disciplined" if you want the result to be "nothing".

Here's my question: Are the arrows determined solely by the players' averages (modified by morale, experience, etc), or are they compared with those of the opponent's players and/or tactical choices somehow?

as far as I can tell, the arrows are very much influenced by the opponents tactic, player skills.
Just play the same tactic with the same players twice against two different opponents...

If the number of stars does not determine which team played the best and who will win and since hearts is also a nonindicator of success, what then is the most useful tool to determine if your tactics and players will beat another team. What are these hidden, unspoken rules about winning that are not disclosed in the notes we get from the reports?

To be honest, I think the number of hearts is a good indication of how effective your team tactics have been. Admin has always said that success is not all about team tactics and I think he means that individual brilliance also comes into it. You can see this with direct play and/ or defensive tactics where you team might get outplayed but your striker scores the winner from your only shot of the game or sometimes you spot and exploit a weakness in an opponents team e.g a particular flank or float crosses. Howver, in my opinion the only way to control a game is through team tactics, if you are not the strongest team, there are things you can do that will you a chance but you will need luck to be successful.

Basically the match computer does what it wants in my opinion. I can show you a game where I have four arrows up in all departments but still lose the game. Not that any of my players played poorly. They totally dominated in the performance catagory. Simply put, they did everything but win. I'm not sure I put much faith in reports anymore.. It's total BS especially when they add things like luck to cover it up.

Guys, this is team report. But in Gko as in every game is still room for personal efforts. So your team can perform well but someone from other team can make a shot or do a dribble as well and change a result. Frankly speaking I think there is too much from one man actions and corners in GKO. After many season I was push to change my team play.
