At least one Soviet movie based on this story - Tretiy Taym (The Third Half) (1964) - was released. The story also inspired two non-Soviet films: the 1961 Hungarian film Két félidő a pokolban (Two Half-times in Hell) and the 1981 American film Escape to Victory.

There is an english-language Wikipedia page on this match:

The Death Match

In fact, there were 10 matches between FC Start (composed of players from then-dissolved FC Dynamo Kyiv and FC Locomotyv Kyiv)  and Hungarian or German military teams between June and August 1942. FC Start won every match, scoring a combined 55 goals and conceding only 12!
