Imagine you were in the market for a player and that two, nearly equivalent "dream players" (or just good enough players to fill a position you were suddenly lacking in due to injury) were both on the market at the same time, had both received bids, and had bidding deadlines that were a few hours apart...while you are:
-at work
-asleep
-otherwise engaged
and you don't have a way to access the internet. You are stuck. I think we should be able to arrange for someone in our virtual "staff" to make a bid for us while we might otherwise be preoccupied in

My suggestion is to enable a "reserve bid" feature that is dependent on the outcome of a "made" bid (deadline within 24 hrs) so if your first bid does not win, you could automatically place a bid on the other. There are other ways such a feature would be useful too. Bidding is, after all, a game like football that should have its own "advance instructions" for those of us that are unavailable at the crucial moment. Something to consider for season 5, anyway
