When i really want a player, i also try to be online, i must admit that few times i set an alarm in my watch to bid hehehe. All of us were in that condition a few times, i am pointing that the current free player's schedule is not providing the same oportunities to all, that's all. The chance that an asiatic manager "can" be connected are higher than an argentinian, brazilian, chilean, colombian... That was my point, nothing more, nothing less.
But as i said before, i am one of these crazy managers that doesn't care time.
Now, ask a 10 years old child to be connected at 3AM, they parents will surely punish them, don't you think?
Edit: At least, free players are in a hollyday, people is not working or studying mostly, that's the good thing of this change. Time is not entirely fair, but the day picked brings more chances than a tuesday for sure!
