(POLL) Should free users be allowed to join Custom Cups?
« on: April 07, 2012, 04:57:29 AM »
*IMO Custom Cup tickets should cost twice that of normal friendlies anyway...they are semi-competitive at the very least since there is a (potentially substantial) prize...

Please tell us what you think

I think that we should also join the minicup not just with premium account but with additionals money to pay  (be able to join for an additional fee (G) included in the prize pot )

To best answer this question I think we need some idea of how many premium users there are. I mean what percentage of all users who started last season or earlier are premium? If it's 50% (no way it is even close) then I might feel differently, but I get the feeling it is closer to 1%, which surely hurts the competitiveness of Custom Cups. It would be nice to organize a Europa League-type cup after WCL group stage, but this may be impossible unless enough users are premium. I organized a 16 team "CONCACAF Champions League" Custom Cup earlier this season made up of Top Level winners/runners-up from last season, but I will be lucky to get 4 teams in such a cup now. This all means fewer games, less competition, and smaller prizes than if Cup was open to everyone.

Voting has now closed and the majority (61.1%) of voters feel that non-premium users should be able to join custom cup at some additional cost.

I had hoped a Europa League-style custom cup could be organized for clubs who failed to pass WCL group stage, but alas only 7 out of the 48 clubs who will not pass to knockout rounds are premium users...not even enough to form an 8-team cup
 :(

Personally, I really hope developers either allow nonpremium users join custom cups OR a secondary Europa League-style competition feature can be developed...and soon
