:-\ Several defeats to Mean Machine youth.  Team moral very low.  Hibury cup seems just in reach and yet so far away again this season.  What is a manager to do accept throw the team into even more competition.

:) Hibury youth will take the field in the U S A and try to do what they did last year in the Undertakers under 21 cup.  Lets hope for a better performance than was had list time we entered this cup.

So basically, you are saying that a defender with very high determination will be more of an attacking players for tactics like defenders pushing up.  I will need to see how this works in practice.  I have a young defender with determination of 16.  I was trying to sell him but maybe he might be an attacking asset for me in the future.  I will need to train him a bit and put him in a few games.

I favour the all out defensive style of building center backs.  For me, this is the last line of defence.  With so many talented attacking players, I prefer to have my defenders concentrate on just that, defending.

;) As a side effect of over training defensive skills, you eventually find that defensive players develop certain attacking abilities anyway.  A big part of a good defender is physical ability.  Physical ability is also a big part of offensive ability.  By training your center back to be the best defender he can be, you inevitably give him some attacking ability.

As I stated before, I prefer a defensive center back but to compensate, I train them with the defensive skills that also promote attacking.  I do not concentrate on dribbling, shooting, technique or any of that.  I just make them as strong as I can and that is usually enough to get them up the field challenging for headers.

Suggestions/Bugs / Re: Suggest to change the rule of youth camp
« on: July 24, 2013, 04:33:21 PM »
:(  Yes, it is sad how the countries with smaller numbers of investors are discriminated against.  Those managers who have invested in countries with smaller numbers of investors are certainly at a disadvantage in this current system on youth camps.  Brian makes a good point when he mentions how good players come from all parts of the world regardless of investment.  Money does help promote good youth programs, but some of the best players we have ever seen came from places where there was little to no youth investment at all.

:-\  I do agree that investment should be rewarded, but I don't believe that there should be a handicap for investors who choose to look outside of the powerhouse nations for good talent.  Some balance should be found between investment and luck.

;) Call my thinking a bit off if you want, but this idea of fairness keeps coming up in this forum.  Fairness is ideal, but it is certainly a debatable concept and one that does not naturally exist.  The idea of fairness needs to be regulated with rules for it to work but usually those rules are flawed creating again, an unfair situation.

:-\ Maybe we should scrap the idea of fairness completely.  Instead of looking for fairness, a way of providing an environment that does not limit success is more in order.

::) As Brian stated, the moment Admin. provide the delete button, everyone will make a mass exit from this leaving the best players from this to go again to those players feeding at the very top of the cash pool.  The same thing happens in real life as the mega clubs only get bigger and bigger.

;) Fact is, good management will always provide a way to improve the quality of your club. Those managers who decided not to join the youth system are singing right now because of all the cash they saved with such a good decision.  Sadly, I was not one of them, but I respect the fact that making this poor decision for my club has put the club in this situation.

:( So the youth camps did not find the answers for our clubs.  So we are all mostly just throwing money away for very little return on our investments.  We all cheered when we heard youth camp and cry now because it didn't make the job of management easier.  Bite the bullet, pray for a cancel button but don't cry because we all made such a bad investment.  It won't be the last bad decision for many of us.

:-\ I'm curious.  What is the max stat that anyone has seen on the top coaches?  I have had several and have never seen a stat above 20.  Is 20 the highest stat or do coaching stats get higher?

;) For the record, coaches are certainly overpriced in comparison to the improvement they provide.  Those looking at this option should consider the financial aspect of this decision.

General Discussion(English Only) / Re: GK and player skills
« on: July 13, 2013, 06:02:03 PM »
It has not been made clear to me that GK's don't need the other skills.  We are aware that GK's use positioning and jumping.  I assume that they also use the mental skills like influence, aggression and determination.  It would stand to reason, that GK's might also use other skills such as speed, acceleration strength, balance and agility although I can not confirm or disprove this.

I agree with Brian on this.  Destruction always costs less than construction.  You don't need the same crew to remove stuff and as Brian said, a lot of that stuff you remove can be resold.  Downgrading does not require you to buy any new equipment like seats, concrete ect.  Yet, this is a game so the cost does provide the intensive to make good decisions the first time. :-X

General Discussion(English Only) / GKO Appreciation
« on: May 12, 2013, 02:45:54 PM »
;) One thing that I really appreciate about GKO is the honesty and integrity of many managers that operate here.  Hibury has been in the market looking at young players for a few weeks.  At the club, we like to contact the owners of perspective signings asking for information about the players.  It is nice when managers give correct information about their players and operate with integrity.

I have heard stories about managers being mislead into spending more for a player than the would have considered because of misleading information from other managers or from false advertising in the press. That is most unfortunate when that happens but I have a different story to report today.

 8) Keep up the good work all those managers who are dealing above the table.  I salute the managers of clubs like The Blue FC, A Mani Basse, FK Barcellona, Valemcia, and The Mean Machine for their solid dealings.  These are just a few of the managers who have recently been in talks with our club over players but there are many more great managers who view honesty in club dealings as a value to be cherished.  I salute the managers who are doing things the right way.  Keep up the good work, climb fast and always play right.

We Promote the Beautiful Game.

General Discussion(English Only) / Re: "The Idiot Challenge"
« on: May 11, 2013, 01:54:38 PM »
;) Wages are high when you buy experienced players with good ability.  They demand what they feel they are worth.  Many managers have a problem paying these high wages especially when they have other plans for their funds.  I still don't think it is a bad idea.  A player will demand all they think they are worth and if you want that kind of talent with no waiting for training or investment in their development, it is fair to pay such prices when you consider what you would pay to create that player from birth.  Costs of training facilities, camps and coaches is covered in the wage they demand.  It is up to managers to consider if they can afford that kind of talent with the overhead they already have.  Some managers will make bad decisions, but that is the job of being a manager.  It is part of the game dealing with what is available on the market or choosing to do it from youth facilities.  There is no reason to complain.  If you want cups and championships, you need to negotiate the pitfalls of our playing environment and manage your way to the top of the pile.
:( There are options.  They take time and planning.  I heard it said once when I first started on as manager of Hibury that you can't just race to the top of the pile.  That is true.  A team doesn't become the best over night.  Lets do our jobs managers and us our skills and planning to conquer the environment which is signing and retaining players in an economical fashion.  If teams wish to win through debt financing, by paying outrageous wages, the game will sort them out as well.  The season doesn't end tomorrow.  Patience and good decision making is still the rule of the game.  Be wise and make good decisions for you team rather than lusting over players that are out of your teams range.
 >:( Remember, its not fun if its not fun.  Best of luck to all the managers who are working hard to build teams even in this hostile transfer market.  It makes good decisions even more rewarding when you have patience and wait for a deal that is good for your club. :)

One more thing that is disappointing about this game.  Youth camps... The latest waste of money.  I can do better in the transfer market with my cash!

People are always talking about how token users have this mythical unfair advantage over other players.  Here's my point.  Unless you have been prohibited from buying tokens, you are free to buy them and use them as well.  People need to realize that unfair means one is given an advantage that another can't have.  All are free to spend money on tokens and use them as they wish.  Let's stop calling premium users unfair.  It is not a special club where some can't join.  Those who choose not to be premium have that choice but it doesn't make it unfair.

As far as injuries go, they will come.  Build a team that can withstand injuries instead of having teams where there is one player per position.  Might be time to start keeping backups on the bench like in real life.

:D Certainly the Bermuda League.  It's all about the colour cometary 8)!

You can buy the right to play extra cups and get that extra training by becoming a premium member.  The only thing standing between extra cup matches and all users is a commitment to support this game financially.  If you don't wish to help pay for what goes into making this game happen, why complain because those who do help with the financial side of this game get perks.  Wake up and realize that paying has its privileges >:(.

I think that in those countries where there are not enough players to vote, the national team should go to the team that won the Top League of the country that year.  That way, even without a vote, people could get a chance to manage the team and the team won't be a slave to the foolish BOT tactics.

I would also like some information about what is happening.  I dare not make a move with my limited finances before I know exactly what is happening with finances in this period.  It wouldn't be so bad if they suspended salaries and expenses for a bit but I would prefer to know if that is what is happening. :-\

Rules/ Guidelines / How To / Re: Attention, cheating is not allowed!
« on: September 21, 2012, 04:56:52 PM »
;) I think that the main motivation behind cheating is the desire for success at the highest level.  With this in mind, we must also consider what motivates the cheaters actions.  I believe that cheaters cheat, because they feel the benefit of cheating outweighs the punishment of being caught.  This can be fixed.

I would suggest that changing the punishment for cheating could substantially reduce the level of cheating in this game.  The paranoia that is created amongst honest players is something that needs to be reduced.  I have a suggestion that could help with both of these problems.

:D What about instead of banning players from the game, we relegate them. This would have new restrictions of course.  Players being accused of cheating or that admin.  deem cheaters would be banned from TOP LEAGUE for life, banned from INTERNATIONAL CUPS for life, and could only ever hope to aspire to some specified league level.  These rules could be played with but the principle is one that would make players think twice about ever trying to cheat.

Right now, I don't see any reason for a banned player to not make another team and carry on as usual.  Let them have their criminally acquired players, but also let their teams live with the stigma of being labelled cheaters.  Let their efforts in nondescript leagues with no possibility of fame or reputation be a reminder to those who would cheat that you will never reach the highest point of this mountain without doing things honestly.

What about rewarding cheaters with their just rewards.  I hate finding a player I like but... oh no...  :'( they are owned by a banned player.  What about relegating these players to the lowest leagues possible... Send them to the dungeon for them to never return.  Just an idea.

Need help ? / Re: Need Explanation
« on: September 17, 2012, 01:22:38 AM »
:( This has also happened to me several times.  I have made good tactical decisions while the opponent was mediocre.  My condition was perfect and most if not all my players were playing at a very high level of moral.  My opponent had lost his best player to injury and had, what was in my assessment & the AAoP, a weaker team.

I have concluded that sometimes you can do everything right, but not get the result you expect to get.  It's like another poster said earlier.  Sometimes you can't explain why Arsenal was defeated by Wigan.   Things happen on the field and there are X factors.  I think they are called ENV.  It makes the game more interesting when the underdog has a chance at glory.  ;)

275
;) That is what I am talking about Carlos.  You sold all of your players and was able to play with what you had for 2 months as you say.  Where did you get these players and how many players did you sell to get yourself there?  I had a look at your list of transfers for the 17 months you have been running your club and it has almost as many pages.  The market has obviously been very good to you.

As I stated before, you could not sell the players you sold 17 months ago and think to find that same return on them now.  Also, I can only estimate that the price to purchase normal quality players, much less good quality players has certainly increased.  It's fine to be proud of the work you have done, but you, of all people, should be able to recognize how beneficial the transfer market has been to your success.  I know that you can see how these new policies make it harder for others to replicate what you have done.  These are just the facts as we see them at the low end of the totem.

Here at Hibury FC, we saw these changes coming and have tried to prepare accordingly, but even I have had an advantage over players who are now just starting.  I could care less if the admins. want to do it this way.  That doesn't change the fact that it makes things hard for newer players.  Like you stated, you have seen people quit this game because of the failures they experienced.  I don't want to see that happen to anyone.  It should be fun for everyone.
